ROUTE 621 BRIDGE OPEN
New weight limit in place
The bridge was closed in February 2008 after severe structural deficiencies were found during a routine inspection.
After extensive research and discussion, a repair procedure was developed by the Lynchburg District Structures and Bridge section which allows motorists to use the structure; however, there is a lower posted weight limit. The repair work was accomplished by the Dillwyn Residency Bridge crew.
Routine bridge inspections are used to ensure that Virginia bridges remain safe for motorists. When bridge inspectors find any safety concerns, bridges are immediately posted to reduce weight limits or closed until necessary repairs are made.
