DATE CHANGED ON PUBLIC HEARING FOR SOUTH QUAY BRIDGE (ROUTE 189) PROJECT
Public invited to learn more about plans to replace bridge
SUFFOLK — Due to inclement weather, the public hearing for the South Quay Bridge project has been postponed one week to Wednesday, January 18. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold the design public hearing to present the proposed plans for replacement of the South Quay Bridge (Route 189) over the Blackwater River in Southampton County and the City of Suffolk.

The purpose of the meeting is to give citizens an opportunity to review the project exhibits on display, meet with VDOT representatives and provide input. This will be an open-house format meeting with no formal presentation. Local media are invited to attend.
Citizens may provide oral and written comments at the hearing or submit them by January 30, 2017, to Mr. Wali Zaman, P.E., Virginia Department of Transportation, 1700 North Main Street, Suffolk, Virginia 23434 or via email to Wali.Zaman@VDOT.Virginia.gov.
