PUBLIC COMMENTS SOUGHT ON PROPOSED WIDENING TO SECTION OF I-64 IN YORK COUNTY
Public is invited to review and submit comments by Friday, July 1

HAMPTON ROADS — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are seeking public comments on proposed improvements to increase traffic capacity to a section of Interstate 64 in York County. The proposal includes pavement reconstruction of existing lanes, as well as the addition of one 12-foot wide travel lane and one 12-foot wide shoulder in each direction of I-64 from approximately Exit 242 to Exit 234.

If approved, this will be the third operationally-independent section to be implemented from the I-64 Peninsula Study Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). VDOT and FHWA are specifically soliciting comments on VDOT’s draft request for Record of Decision (ROD) on this section. Comments should be submitted by July 1, 2016 to the VDOT Hampton Roads Office of Communications, 1700 N. Main Street, Suffolk, VA 23434, via email to hamptonroadspublicinfo@vdot.virginia.gov or by telephone at 757-925-1515.

Information about the proposed capacity improvements for this section is available at: http://www.i64widening.org/learn_more/segment_3.asp
