VDOT Suspends Tree Trimming Contract
Action Follows Tuesday’s Downed Power Line on I-264

SUFFOLK-Due to inconsistent statements made by employees of a tree trimming contractor working along Interstate 264 in Norfolk on Tuesday, VDOT Hampton Roads District Administrator, Jim Utterback, has indefinitely suspended VDOT’s contract with Tree Tech, Inc. of Forest, VA.

Tree Tech had three, five-man crews working for VDOT in Hampton Roads and one of the crews was deployed along the Interstate when a Dominion Virginia Power line fell across I-264, causing both East and Westbound lanes of I-264 to be closed for two hours.

Tree Tech’s contract will be suspended pending the outcome of a final VDOT investigation which will determine whether Tree Tech’s contract will be terminated.
