VDOT FINISHES HUNTERDALE ROAD PROJECT IN FRANKLIN
Roadway restored, capacity increased, and access to the hospital improved
FRANKLIN– The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), along with contract crews from Curtis Contracting, have reopened Hunterdale Road to traffic after completing a seven-month widening project. The project included restoring the existing roadway, upgrading utilities, increasing capacity of the roadway and improving access to the hospital.
The project added a right-turn lane from northbound Hunterdale Road to Fairview Drive in the direction of the hospital. Crews also added 4’ wide shoulders to the route. New curbs and gutters were installed, along with a new water main and other sanitation sewer improvements. In addition, crews improved resident driveways along the corridor and installed new signals with cameras at the intersection of Fairview Drive and Hunterdale Road.
