Construction scheduled to start this week

VIRGINIA BEACH – A project to widen Lynnhaven Parkway to four lanes from Indian River Road to Centerville Turnpike is scheduled to start construction this week, weather conditions permitting.

American Infrastructure was awarded the $18.9 million construction contract to add an additional lane in each direction and a bridge at the canal located between Centerville Turnpike and Indian River Road to create a connection between the cities of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.

During construction, one lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions. Motorists should be alert to temporary flagging operations as needed throughout the duration of the project.

The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2016.
