GILMERTON BRIDGE TO CLOSE TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC FRIDAY EVENINGS OF JULY 26, AUGUST 2
Motorists Encouraged to Use I-64 High Rise Bridge as Alternate Route

CHESAPEAKE - The Gilmerton Bridge (Route 13/Military Highway) will close to all vehicular traffic on Friday, July 26, and Friday, Aug. 2, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for construction activities relating to the Gilmerton Bridge Replacement Project. Maritime traffic will not be affected by the closure.

Motorists should be advised that the Gilmerton Bridge is also closed weeknights, Sunday through Thursday, beginning each night at 8 p.m. and reopening each morning by 5 a.m.

During the closures, motorists are encouraged to use the Interstate 64 High Rise Bridge as the preferred alternate route. In addition, the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge in Chesapeake can be used as a tolled alternate route.
