I-64 HRBT EIS Background
VDOT initiated the I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel EIS in May 2011 and held public scoping meetings in July 2011. An EIS is being prepared as part of this study in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). With the EIS, VDOT will examine a range of alternative concepts, and evaluate the environmental impacts of alternatives which meet the transportation needs. The study is scheduled for completion in 2014.
