VDOT HIRES BROOKE GROW AS THE NEWEST ADDITION TO THE HAMPTON ROADS PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE
Grow Joins the Agency as the New Public Affairs Specialist

SUFFOLKThe Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently hired Brooke Grow as the new public affairs specialist for the Hampton Roads District. Grow joins the agency with more than eight years of experience in the public relations field. She will be working out of the Suffolk office and directly handling transportation issues for the Hampton Roads area. Grow was chosen from a candidate pool of more than eight-five applicants.

“We are very enthusiastic about Brooke joining our team. As you may know, this position has been vacant for more than two years; we are happy to have someone that will bring a confident and outgoing demeanor, along with media experience to the agency,” says Lauren Hansen, Public Affairs Manager. “Our agency has been seeking the right candidate to help facilitate two-way communication with the public and we are anxious to get Brooke into the community and working with the citizens of the Commonwealth.”

Grow’s past work experience includes positions with a public relations firm, a non-profit association, the Department of Natural Resources MD and Ritz Camera Centers. She has a vast amount of work experience interacting with state government officials, networking with media contacts and organizing community outreach initiatives. Grow graduated from the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communications. She is a Maryland native who has recently relocated to the Hampton Roads area.

With Grow’s addition to the public affairs team, she will be responsible for outreach strategies in the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk; the counties of York and Isle of Wight; and the towns of Windsor and Poquoson.
