ROUTE 460 PAVING PROJECT BEGINS
Motorists should expect delays between the towns of Wakefield and Ivor
WAKEFIELD— The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) began work to repave sections of Route 460 on Monday, June 1. Motorists traveling on Route 460 between the towns of Wakefield and Ivor should expect alternating lane closures in both directions through December 2009.
Lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday; however, motorists should plan ahead and allow for additional delays during all periods of the day while traveling through this area.
Branscome Inc. from Richmond was awarded the $2 million maintenance contract, which includes repaving and re-striping approximately 12 lane miles of Route 460. Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA), designed to maximize rutting resistance and increase pavement durability, will be used to repave this section of roadway. The contract completion date is December 1, 2009.
Motorists are advised to use caution and follow the posted speed limit while traveling through the work zone.
