I-95 TRAFFIC STOPS AT EXIT 140 IN STAFFORD OVERNIGHT
Crews will stop all I-95 northbound and southbound traffic up to 30 minutes at a time between midnight and 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Interstate 95 northbound and southbound traffic at Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) in Stafford County will be stopped for three intervals, up to 30 minutes at a time, between midnight and 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, for utility work as part of the I-95 Interchange Reconfiguration and Courthouse Road widening project.
Virginia State Police will slowly roll traffic on I-95 northbound and southbound to a stop just after midnight near the Exit 140 interchange. Traffic will be stopped up to 30 minutes intermittently until 5 a.m. Wednesday for motorist safety.
All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is encouraging overnight travelers to use Route 1 or Route 301 to avoid delays.
Overhead message boards will warn drivers to stay alert for the work zones ahead and delays.

VDOT’s 14-county Fredericksburg District includes the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford in the Fredericksburg area; Northumberland, Richmond, Lancaster and Westmoreland counties in the Northern Neck; Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews and Middlesex counties in the Middle Peninsula.
