EXPECT BRIEF DELAYS NEAR THE DOWNING BRIDGE NEXT WEEK
Motorists will encounter alternating lane closures on Route 17 and Route 360 near bridge approaches
FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will have alternating lane closures on Route 17 and Route 360 near the Downing Bridge, which crosses the Rappahannock River, to work on pavement markers.
The bridge is located between Essex and Richmond counties.
There will be no lane closures on the Downing Bridge. Motorists should still anticipate brief delays near the bridge approaches.
The following lane closures are planned Monday, Jan. 22 ˗˗ Friday, Jan. 26, weather permitting:
Monday ˗˗ Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 4:30 p.m.
- Route 360 Westbound from Route 621 (Sabine Hall Road) to the Downing Bridge
- Route 360 Eastbound and Westbound from the end of the 4-lane divide to the Downing Bridge
Thursday ˗˗ Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 4:30 p.m.
- Route 17/Route 360 from Route 617 (Richmond Beach Road) to Route 657 (Marsh Street)
- Route 360 from the Downing Bridge to Church Lane
Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on Route 17 and Route 360 near the Downing Bridge. Crews are replacing the lens in pavement markers on both roads.
Motorists should expect slow moving construction equipment and delays near the mobile work zone. The mobile work zone will periodically pull over to allow congestion to clear.
Motorists can find real-time information on lane closures, work zones, traffic and other incidents on 511Virginia.
