POLICE ACTIVITY ON INTERSTATE 95 IN STAFFORD COUNTY CAUSING MAJOR DELAYS IN THE FREDERICKSBURG AREA
Southbound evening rush hour will be impacted; Drivers should expect major delays on I-95 and Route 1 in both directions
4:45 P.M. UPDATE: All lanes are now open on I-95 northbound in Stafford County. Expect residual delays on I-95 northbound and Route 1 northbound in the Fredericksburg region.
FREDERICKSBURG – Police activity continues on I-95 northbound at mile marker 142 in Stafford County. The following closures are causing major delays in the area:
- All lanes are closed on I-95 northbound at mile marker 142 north of Exit 140/Courthouse Road
- All lanes are closed at mile marker 136 near the exit to Centreport Parkway
All lanes are open on I-95 southbound, 95 Express Lanes and Route 1 northbound and southbound; however, motorists should expect major delays due to congestion.
Traffic delays on Interstate 95 are approximately 10 miles in both directions.
VDOT and the City of Fredericksburg traffic signal technicians have adjusted traffic signal timings on Route 1 in an effort to ease congestion.
VDOT’s 14-county Fredericksburg District includes the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford in the Fredericksburg area; Northumberland, Richmond, Lancaster and Westmoreland counties in the Northern Neck; Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews and Middlesex counties in the Middle Peninsula.
