MULTIPLE WORK ZONES ON I-95 IN FREDERICKSBURG
Expect midday and overnight delays on I-95 northbound, southbound this week with construction projects, bridge inspections and mowing underway

FREDERICKSBURG  –  Motorists should anticipate midday and overnight delays on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound for multiple work zones to include mowing operations this week in the Fredericksburg area.

This week, mowing operations are underway on I-95. Operations begin at mile marker 101 in Caroline County and proceed north. Drivers should give mowing and litter crews plenty of room to work in the shoulder. These operations will take place outside of the travel lanes, but drivers should consider moving over or reducing speed when approaching mowing operations.

The following lane closures are planned, weather permitting:

Interstate 95 Southbound

Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road) Stafford County

  • Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m.
    • A single, right lane will be closed near Exit 140 to allow crews to install temporary concrete barrier and crash cushions near the interchange as part of the project to build a diverging diamond.

Potomac Creek Bridge (mile marker 137) Stafford County

  • Tuesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m.
    • A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. at the Potomac Creek bridge for a bridge rehabilitation project. The bridge is located at mile marker 137, just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway). All lanes will reopen at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth)

  • Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.

Expect alternating, single lane closures on both I-95 bridges over Route 17 to allow crews to inspect bridges.

  • Ni River Bridge (mile marker 121) Spotsylvania County
  • Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
      • A single lane will close at 9 p.m. at the Ni River bridge followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. as crews continue a bridge improvement project. The Ni River bridge is located at mile marker 121, just south of Exit 126/Massaponax.
    • Friday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m.
      • A single lane will close at 10 p.m. at the Ni River Bridge followed by a double lane closure at midnight till 4:30 a.m. A single lane will close until 6 a.m. Saturday.
  • Exit 118 (Route 606/Mudd Tavern Road) Spotsylvania County
    • Tuesday ˗˗ Thursday,9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
      • A single lane will close near the Exit 118 interchange for construction activities related to the I-95 overpass replacement project and widening of Mudd Tavern Road.
  • Interstate 95 Northbound
  • Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road) Stafford County

    • Wednesday ˗˗ Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
    •  Expect single lane closures near Exit 140 to allow crews to trim trees near the Express Lanes as part of the Southern Terminus extension.

    Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth)

    • Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.

    • Expect alternating, single lane closures on both I-95 bridges over Route 17 to allow crews to inspect bridges.
    Exit 118 (Route 606/Mudd Tavern Road) Spotsylvania County
    • Tuesday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 2:30 p.m.
  •  
  •  Overhead message boards will warn travelers to stay alert for the work zones ahead and possible delays.
