Motorists can anticipate lane closures on I-95, Route 1, Fall Hill Avenue and Mary Washington Boulevard as project nears completion

FREDERICKSBURG – Next week, motorists will encounter daytime and overnight lane closures in the Fall Hill Avenue widening and Interstate 95 overpass replacement project work zone in Fredericksburg.

Crews will be paving, applying pavement markings, installing signs and traffic signal equipment, and performing final tasks as the project nears completion.

Also, a new traffic pattern will be in place starting Monday, April 17 at the intersection of Mary Washington Boulevard and Sam Perry Boulevard at the Mary Washington Hospital campus.

Mary Washington Boulevard and Sam Perry Boulevard

Mobile, single lane closures will be in place between noon and 5 p.m. Monday, April 17 as workers apply final pavement markings on Mary Washington Boulevard between Sam Perry Boulevard and Hospital Drive before opening up all lanes to traffic.

Once all lanes are open Monday afternoon, through traffic on Mary Washington Boulevard will be free flowing, and will not stop at the intersection with Sam Perry Boulevard.

Traffic turning right onto Mary Washington Boulevard from Sam Perry Boulevard, or turning left onto Sam Perry Boulevard from Mary Washington Boulevard, must yield to oncoming traffic.

Message boards are posted to alert drivers to this change.

A newly constructed portion of Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Fall Hill Avenue is not yet complete, and will remain closed to traffic next week.
