EXPECT ADDITIONAL DELAYS ON THE NORRIS BRIDGE WITH EMERGENCY PAVEMENT REPAIR
Route 3 work zone will be extended on the Middlesex side to allow crews to make necessary repairs
FREDERICKSBURG – Drivers should anticipate additional delays on Route 3 crossing the Robert O. Norris Bridge between Lancaster and Middlesex counties with emergency pavement repair underway.
The heat caused a 75-foot long, 5-foot wide section of pavement to break up just outside of the work zone on the Norris Bridge.
The work zone on Route 3 has been extended passed the bridge approach on the Middlesex side of the Norris Bridge to allow crews to repair pavement breakup caused by today’s high temperatures.
Temporary traffic signals put into place for the bridge painting project will be placed into flash mode until the emergency repair work is complete.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will assist with traffic control by alternating, one-way traffic.
Motorists should follow direction of law enforcement and plan for additional travel time through the evening rush hour on Route 3 near the Norris Bridge.
Crews expect to finish the asphalt patching later this evening.
Motorists can find real-time information on lane closures, work zones, traffic and other incidents on 511Virginia.
