VDOT TO INSPECT NORRIS BRIDGE NEXT WEEK
On Monday the bridge will be intermittently closed to traffic for up to 30 minutes
FREDERICKSBURG– Beginning Monday, March 28, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin inspections on the Robert O. Norris Bridge.
Motorists will be restricted to one lane on the bridge from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day through Friday, April 1. A pilot truck will be used to guide motorists across the bridge one lane at a time.
Flaggers will stop traffic on each bridge approach while the pilot truck leads traffic from the opposing direction.
On Monday, March 28, the first phase of the inspection will require intermittent bridge closures for up to 30 minutes. All traffic will be stopped at the bridge approximately three times between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Motorists should expect major delays at the bridge throughout the week.
The Norris Bridge crosses the Rappahannock River, and connects Lancaster and Middlesex counties.
Real-time listings of road closures in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic and travel information website, www.511Virginia.org.
Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia, or downloading a free 511Virginia mobile app.
