VDOT CREWS WORKING TO CLEAR ROAD DEBRIS IN ESSEX COUNTY
Motorists asked to avoid nonessential travel on affected secondary roads

FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists are advised to avoid nonessential travel today in the Mt. Landing Road and Kino Road area of Essex County as Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews and emergency responders work to remove debris and re-open roads.

Route 619 (Kino Road) and Route 627 (Mt. Landing Road) are closed.

Additional secondary roads in Essex County may be partially blocked with debris following Wednesday night’s severe weather.

Motorists who must travel in these areas should expect to encounter VDOT crews and contractor crews removing downed trees, tree limbs and other debris, with closed travel lanes or shoulders.

Limiting nonessential traffic will also allow assistance to reach residents and businesses impacted by the severe weather.
