REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS ISSUED FOR I-95 SOUTHBOUND COLLECTOR-DISTRIBUTOR LANES – RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER CROSSING
New lanes would be built parallel to I-95 southbound between Route 17 in Stafford County and Route 3 in Fredericksburg
FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has advertised a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from companies that may be interested in submitting bids for a design-build contract to build the Interstate 95 Southbound Collector-Distributor Lanes – Rappahannock River Crossing project in the Fredericksburg area.
The RFQ asks that interested companies, known as offerors, submit Statements of Qualifications. Those responses will be evaluated by VDOT and the information will be used to determine the most qualified offerors. Those offerors will be invited to submit project proposals in response to VDOT’s Request for Proposals, which will be issued in early 2017.
The project is located along I-95 between mile marker 134 in Stafford County and mile marker 130 in the City of Fredericksburg. The project would modify the Route 17 interchange and add collector-distributor lanes parallel to the I-95 southbound general purpose lanes between Exit 133/Route 17 in Stafford and Exit 130/Route 3 in Fredericksburg.
The RFQ advertisement is posted on the Design-Build Request for Qualifications page on VDOT’s website: http://www.virginiadot.org/business/request-for-qualifications.asp
VDOT’s 14-county Fredericksburg District includes the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford in the Fredericksburg area; Northumberland, Richmond, Lancaster and Westmoreland counties in the Northern Neck; Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews and Middlesex counties in the Middle Peninsula.
