REMINDER: EXPECT OVERNIGHT I-95 DELAYS
Double lane closures scheduled Monday-Thursday nights for bridge beam installation at Fall Hill Avenue overpass

FREDERICKSBURG –  Interstate 95 travelers can expect delays in the Fredericksburg area on Monday-Thursday evenings this week as crews lift concrete beams into place at the site of a new Fall Hill Avenue overpass.

Lanes will be closed on the following schedule, weather permitting:

  • Single lane closure at 9:30 p.m.
  • Double lane closure at 10 p.m.
  • Between midnight and 3 a.m. all traffic will be stopped several times for approximately 20 minutes each while crews lift concrete beams over the interstate.
  • All lanes re-open to traffic by 5 a.m.

I-95 northbound

  • Single lane closure at 9:30 p.m.
  • Double lane closure at 10 p.m.
  • Between midnight and 3 a.m. all traffic will be stopped several times for approximately 20 minutes each while crews lift concrete beams over the interstate.

Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement

Construction is underway on a $44.4 million project to widen Fall Hill Avenue in Fredericksburg to four lanes between Gordon W. Shelton Boulevard and the Rappahannock Canal.

A new four-lane overpass is under construction over I-95 northbound and southbound. Traffic began traveling on the first half of the newly constructed overpass in February, while work progresses on the second half of the bridge. Estimated project completion is January 2017.
