NORRIS BRIDGE DECK REPAIR SCHEDULED FOR MAY 31-JUNE 2 AND JUNE 6-9
Route 3 will be reduced to one lane on the Norris Bridge

FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists will encounter brief overnight delays on Route 3 at the Robert O. Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River during the first two weeks of June while bridge deck repairs are underway.

Route 3 will be reduced to one lane overnight on the following dates for repairs to the bridge’s concrete travel surface:

  • Tuesday, May 31 − Thursday, June 2
  • Monday, June 9 − Thursday, June 9

Work dates scheduled for the evenings of May 23-May 26 were cancelled due to weather and contractor scheduling.

Bridge traffic will be reduced to one lane from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each evening, weather permitting. Motorists will be guided through the work zone by a flagging crew and pilot vehicle.

The Norris Bridge crosses the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties.

Message boards are posted on routes leading to the bridge in Middlesex and Lancaster counties to notify motorists of the overnight lane closures.
