NEW BARRIER GATE TO BE INSTALLED AT GWYNN'S ISLAND BRIDGE TOMORRROW
Expect brief traffic stops followed by flagging operation

FREDERICKSBURG – Beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, crews will begin work to replace the damaged barrier gate at the Gwynn’s Island Bridge located on Route 223 in Mathews County.
During the first four hours of work, traffic at the bridge will be stopped for no more than 15 minutes at a time to complete the initial installation. After that flaggers will be used to direct traffic through the work zone.
The installation of the new barrier gate is expected to be complete in one day.
Marine traffic will not be impacted by the installation.
The barrier gate at the bridge over Milford Haven was damaged by a vehicle crash in November 2015.
