Route 3 will be reduced to one lane on the bridge between Lancaster and Middlesex counties for bridge washing

FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists will encounter overnight delays on the Robert O. Norris Bridge on Wednesday, July 27 through Friday, July 29 for bridge maintenance work.

Each evening, Route 3 will be reduced to one lane on the bridge at the following times:

  • 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27 and Thursday, July 28
  • 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday, July 29

Bridge washing will be underway. This routine maintenance work protects the bridge’s structural steel elements by removing accumulated dirt, salt and debris, and keeps bridge joints and drainage facilities clear.

The Norris Bridge spans the Rappahannock River at White Stone, and connects Lancaster and Middlesex counties.
