Emergency concrete repair to bridge travel surface will reduce Route 3 over the Rappahannock River to single lane at Lancaster, Middlesex line

FREDERICKSBURG – Route 3 will be reduced to one lane this afternoon on the Robert O. Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River for an emergency repair to the bridge’s concrete travel surface.

Crews will remove deteriorated concrete from an approximate 40-foot long section of the bridge’s travel surface and will replace it with asphalt as a temporary repair. A permanent repair using concrete will be scheduled.

Motorists should expect travel delays this afternoon and early evening. The repair is estimated to take several hours to complete. Traffic will be guided through the work zone by a flagging crew and pilot vehicle.

The Norris Bridge crosses the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties.
