Daytime lane closures scheduled 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. on July 11-15 for tree removal

FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists should expect daytime delays on River Road in Spotsylvania County on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15 for roadside tree removal.

River Road will be reduced to a single lane each day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in a mobile work zone between Bragg Road and Spotswood Furnace Road.

Tree removal will begin Monday morning near the intersection of River Road and Bragg Road, and will advance west during the week.

Intermittent, complete traffic stops up to 15 minutes will be needed periodically to safely remove trees and protect motorists.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is removing 77 trees along River Road as a safety enhancement. The trees were identified for removal as part of a safety study of River Road. The effort seeks to reduce crashes that occur when vehicles run off the road and strike fixed objects.
