EXPECT BRIEF DELAYS ON FALMOUTH BRIDGE OVERNIGHT NEXT WEEK
Route 1 will be reduced to one lane northbound, southbound for bridge deck repairs over the Rappahannock River between the City of Fredericksburg and Stafford County

FREDERICKSBURG – Route 1 motorists may encounter brief travel delays overnight next week between the City of Fredericksburg and Stafford County as crews repair the Falmouth Bridge deck over the Rappahannock River.

Route 1 will be reduced to one northbound and one southbound lane overnight beginning Sunday night, with all northbound lanes open by 6 a.m. All southbound lanes will re-open by 7 a.m.

Lane closures are scheduled for the Falmouth Bridge at the following dates and times:

Sunday, Dec. 18 ˗˗ Thursday, Dec. 22

  • 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (northbound) and 7 a.m. (southbound)

Crews will be working to replace temporary asphalt patches on the bridge deck with concrete to provide a smoother travel surface and a more durable repair, and reduce the risk of potholes.
