CSX RAIL WORK TO CLOSE ROUTE 601 (PENOLA ROAD) IN CAROLINE MARCH 14-18
Repairs will be underway at crossing

FREDERICKSBURG – CSX will close Route 601 (Penola Road) in Caroline County on March 14-18 so crews can install new timber at a railroad crossing.

Penola Road will close at the railroad crossing at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 14, and will remain closed until the evening of Friday, March 18.

Signs will be posted to guide motorists along the recommended detour route:

• Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard)
• Route 656 (Dry Bridge Road)
• Route 655 (McBryant Road)
• Route 654 (Moores Mill Road)

Message boards will be posted to alert motorists to the upcoming railroad work and detour.

Penola Road carries an average of 420 vehicles a day, according to a 2014 Virginia Department of Transportation traffic count.
