ROUTE 658 (MOUNT OLIVE ROAD) BRIDGE AT NORTH ANNA RIVER TO CLOSE JAN. 12-15
Detour route will be in place, and motorists are encouraged to follow posted signs

FREDERICKSBURG – A bridge on Route 658 (Mount Olive Road/Green Bay Road) at the Hanover-Spotsylvania county line will be closed for maintenance work on Jan. 12-15.

 

The road will be closed to all traffic at the bridge from 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12 until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15.

 

Signs will be posted along the recommended detour route to guide motorists.

 

Southbound motorists traveling from Spotsylvania County should use the following detour route:

 

  • Route 738 (Partlow Road)
  • Route 622 (Fairview Road)
  • Route 601 (Arritt Road/Greenes Corner Road)
  • Route 715 (Beaver Dam Road)

 

Northbound motorists traveling from Hanover County should use the following detour route:

 

  • Route 715 (Beaver Dam Road)
  • Route 601 (Arritt Road/Greenes Corner Road)
  • Route 622 (Fairview Road)
  • Route 738 (Partlow Road)

 

Approximately 580 vehicles a day cross the bridge, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) traffic count.

 

The bridge, which crosses the North Anna River, was built in 1943. It is a timber deck bridge with steel beams.

 

Next week, VDOT workers will remove and replace several timbers in the bridge deck.
