ROUTE 17 SOUTHBOUND RE-OPENS IN ESSEX COUNTY
Road repair complete after weekend storm, flooding

FREDERICKSBURG – Route 17 southbound has been repaired and re-opened to traffic in Essex County.

Traffic had been detoured since Sunday morning, when the road was closed due to damage from heavy rain and flooding.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and contractor crews replaced a damaged 24-inch drainage pipe near Route 1103 (Ben Lomond Road), located south of Tappahannock in the Dunnsville area. Today, crews paved the reconstructed road.

Motorists can find real-time information about traffic, incidents and congestion on Virginia roads at 511 Virginia.
