Traffic will be reduced to a single lane for annual bridge inspection

FREDERICKSBURG – Beginning next week, Route 3 traffic will be reduced to a single lane on the Robert O. Norris Bridge between Lancaster and Middlesex counties while an annual bridge inspection is underway.

Inspection work will start on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and will continue weekdays from 9 a.m. − 3 p.m. on Oct. 6-9, Oct. 12-16, and Oct. 19-23.

Work has been scheduled weather permitting. If work is cancelled due to weather, additional days of lane closures may be required Oct. 26-30.

A flagging crew will direct traffic through the work zone. Northbound and southbound traffic will alternate crossing the bridge in the open travel lane.

The Norris Bridge crosses the Rappahannock River at White Stone.
