I-95 Bridge Replacement/Fall Hill Avenue Widening Project Details

VDOT awarded a $30.7 million design-build contract to widen Fall Hill Avenue in April 2014 to Corman Construction, Inc., and Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP. Construction began in February 2015, and work will be completed in January 2017.

The existing Fall Hill Avenue bridge over Interstate 95 will be replaced with a four-lane bridge, to include a shared-use path and sidewalk.

Fall Hill Avenue will be widened to four lanes with a raised median from Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park) to just west of the bridge over the Rappahannock Canal. Mary Washington Boulevard will be extended from the hospital campus to intersect with Fall Hill Avenue in a roundabout, which will provide a new connection between Route 1 and Fall Hill Avenue.
