DETOUR REMAINS ON ROUTE 17 SOUTHBOUND
Southbound traffic will continue to use detour overnight while VDOT crews repair highway damage in Essex County

FREDERICKSBURG – A detour on southbound Route 17 in Essex County will remain in place overnight as crews continue to repair the highway following Saturday’s severe weather and heavy rainfall.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are working today to fix a damaged 24-inch drainage pipe and section of pavement near Route 1103 (Ben Lomond Road), which is located south of Tappahannock in the Dunnsville area.

Southbound traffic should follow detour signs posted at the scene. Southbound and northbound Route 17 traffic are both traveling in the northbound lanes of Route 17, with one lane of traffic operating in each direction.

Motorists can find real-time information about traffic, incidents and congestion on Virginia roads at 511 Virginia.
