TRAFFIC SHIFT PLANNED FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 27 ON ROUTE 206 IN KING GEORGE
Motorists may encounter minor delays as workers transition traffic into new pattern

FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists may experience minor delays on Route 206 in King George County on Friday, June 27, near the intersection of Route 218 (Windsor Drive) and Route 624 (Owens Drive), as traffic is shifted into a temporary travel pattern.

A single travel lane may be closed periodically between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should follow directions from a flagging crew in the work zone.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is building new turn lanes along Route 206 at its intersection with Windsor Drive and Owens Drive. When complete, the intersection will include left turn lanes for eastbound and westbound Route 206 traffic turning onto Owens Drive and Windsor Drive. Right turn lanes will also be added on Route 206.

On Friday, workers will be shifting eastbound traffic to the right, into a newly built eastbound travel lane. Westbound traffic will be shifted into the existing eastbound travel lane.

This work has been scheduled weather permitting. If inclement weather prevents temporary pavement markings from being applied to the pavement prior to Friday, the traffic shift will be rescheduled for Monday, June 30 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The project began in February 2014, and will be completed by December 5, 2014.

Real-time listings of work zones, congestion and incident information is available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org.

Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia, or by downloading the free 511 Virginia mobile app.
