ROUTE 625 (PASSING ROAD) BRIDGE TO CLOSE NEXT WEEK AT CAROLINE, KING AND QUEEN COUNTY LINE
Motorists will be detoured Jan. 20-31 during repair work

FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will temporarily close a bridge on Route 625 (Passing Road) at the Caroline and King and Queen county line for a two-week repair project.

The bridge over Byrd’s Mill Pond will close to traffic at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, and will re-open by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31.

The existing bridge is structurally deficient, and has a weight posting of 3 tons. VDOT state forces will install new steel beams and timber deck materials, and add a new bridge railing.

An average of 48 vehicles a day cross the bridge, which was built in 1958.

Detour signs will be posted along the route to guide motorists.

Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
