NORRIS BRIDGE INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE TODAY THROUGH NEXT WEEK
Back to back winter storms prolong routine inspection
FREDERICKSBURG– The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) bridge team needs at least one full week of good weather to complete the annual inspection of the Robert O. Norris Bridge.
Snow, freezing rain and ice has postponed the scheduled inspection over the past several weeks.
Based on the upcoming spring like forecast, VDOT has scheduled to complete the routine bridge inspection today and continue next week.
North and southbound motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on the Route 3 bridge over the Rappahannock River between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. today, Friday, March 28 and again on Monday, March 31 through Friday, April 4.
Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
In the event of inclement weather, the inspection will resume on the next dry day.
The Norris Bridge crosses the Rappahannock River, and connects Lancaster and Middlesex counties.
Real-time listings of road closures in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic and travel information website, www.511Virginia.org.
