CULVERT REPLACEMENT BEGINS ON PLANTATION FOREST DRIVE
VDOT will replace drainage pipe beneath subdivision road in Spotsylvania County

FREDERICKSBURG – Construction work to replace a drainage culvert beneath Route 1421 (Plantation Forest Drive) will begin next week in Spotsylvania County.

Weather permitting, single-lane closures will begin on Thursday, August 28. Traffic on Plantation Forest Drive will be reduced to one lane during construction. Motorists may experience minor delays, and should follow the direction of the flagging crew in the work zone.

Single-lane closures will be permitted between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. While most construction work will occur during the week, periodic lane closures may occur Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The existing drainage pipe will be removed and replaced with a concrete box culvert to promote better drainage. When the project is complete, the road will be paved and new guardrail will be installed.

Construction is expected to be underway for approximately two months, until late October.

Plantation Forest Drive carries approximately 1,000 vehicles per day, according to a VDOT traffic count.

Motorists can call 511, visit www.511Virginia.org, or use VDOT’s 511Virginia free mobile app to find real-time traffic and work zone information in any area of the state.
