CARTER STREET TO REMAIN CLOSED THROUGH NEXT WEEK
Section of secondary road in Stafford’s Falmouth area will remain closed between Route 1 and Gordon Street through Friday, June 13

FREDERICKSBURG – Carter Street in Stafford County’s Falmouth area will remain closed to traffic between Route 1 and Gordon Street through 6 p.m. on Friday, June 13, due to ongoing sewer relocation work.

Motorists should use the most convenient alternate route during the closure.

The sewer relocation is taking place in connection with a $22.4 million project under construction at the intersection of Route 1, Route 17 Business, and Route 218 (Butler Road).

Construction began this spring on the Falmouth Intersection Improvement Project, and work will conclude by September 2015. New turn lanes and through lanes are being built to advance more traffic through the intersection on each signal cycle, reducing motorist delay.

Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org.

Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia, or downloading VDOT’s 511Virginia free mobile app.
