ROUTE 631 (NORWOOD ROAD) BRIDGE CLOSURE IN KING AND QUEEN COUNTY
Motorists will be detoured from Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10 during repair work

FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will temporarily close a bridge on Route 631 (Norwood Road) in King and Queen County next week for repairs.

The bridge over Garnett’s Creek will close to traffic at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, and will re-open by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10.

VDOT state forces will be repairing a bridge that is currently structurally deficient. VDOT will install new steel beams and timber deck materials, and add a new bridge railing.

An average of 62 vehicles a day cross the bridge, which was built in 1973.

Detour signs will be posted along the route to guide motorists.

Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
