ROUTE 301 PAVING MOVING TO NIGHT WORK
Lane closures are scheduled between the Harry W. Nice Bridge and Route 206 overnight

FREDERICKSBURG – To minimize congestion on Route 301 in King George County, lane closures for an ongoing paving operation will be moved to overnight hours.

A single lane of southbound Route 301 will be closed between the Harry W. Nice Bridge and Route 206 on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16. The lane closure will be in place from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

The work zone will resume next week on Sunday, May 19 through Thursday, May 23, with single lane closures again from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

“We apologize to motorists who were delayed this week due to a daytime paving work zone on southbound Route 301 in the Dahlgren area of King George,” said Greg Henion, VDOT Assistant District Administrator for Construction. “We recognize that traffic volumes on Route 301 have risen significantly, and we have shifted our hours to complete this paving improvement after the evening rush hour.”

One lane of southbound Route 301 will remain closed until midday on Wednesday, May 15 while the contractor finishes applying a load of freshly-mixed asphalt. This lane closure will be lifted in advance of today’s afternoon rush hour.

Motorists can find real-time information about work zones, traffic incidents and congestion on VDOT’s 24-hour travel information website, www.511Virginia.org. 511Virginia is also available by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
