NORTHBOUND ROUTE 17 TRAFFIC SHIFT SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY NIGHT
Traffic will be moved into temporary travel lanes for widening project in Stafford County

FREDERICKSBURG – Northbound Route 17 traffic in Stafford County will be shifted into temporary travel lanes between International Parkway and Stafford Lakes Parkway on Sunday, Sept. 8.

 

New lane markings and signs will guide drivers into the temporary travel lanes, which have been built approximately 6 feet to the left of the existing travel lanes. Motorists should follow direction from law enforcement and project officials at the scene.

 

In connection with the traffic shift, a single northbound lane of Route 17 will be closed between International Parkway and Cardinal Forest Drive:

  • 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9
  • 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10

 

A $48.9 million project to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway is underway. Construction began in June, and will be complete by December 2016.
