Motorists will be detoured between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day beginning Monday, Nov. 18

FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close a single-lane bridge on Route 658 (Mount Olive Road) at the Hanover and Spotsylvania county lines next week to conduct testing related to the future replacement of the bridge.

The bridge over the North Anna River will close from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, beginning Monday, Nov. 18. The bridge will be open to traffic at all other times.

Testing is expected to take approximately 5-7 days to complete, weather permitting.

Detour signs will be posted along the route to guide motorists. To reach their destination, motorists should use
Partlow Road (Route 738), Fairview Road (Route 622), Arritt Road / Green Corner Road (Route 601) and Beaver Dam Road (Route 715). The detour route is approximately 16 miles long, with an anticipated additional travel time of 25 minutes.

The bridge is 70 years old. Preliminary engineering work is underway to replace the bridge. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2018.

Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
