TRAFFIC SIGNAL ACTIVATION THIS WEEK
Temporary signals will be activated on Wednesday, June 13 on Route 3 at Twigg Bridge

FREDERICKSBURG –Temporary traffic signals will be activated on Route 3 at the John Andrew Twigg Bridge between Mathews and Middlesex counties on Wednesday, June 13.

Weather permitting, the signals are scheduled to be activated at approximately 9 a.m.

A traffic signal will be activated on each side of the bridge over the Piankatank River to control traffic. The signals will be operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, during a two-year bridge rehabilitation project.

One travel lane will be closed on the bridge throughout the project. Northbound and southbound traffic will alternate crossing the bridge in a single travel lane.

A concrete barrier will be installed to separate traffic from the work zone on the bridge.

VDOT has coordinated with emergency services providers to allow changes to the traffic signal timing for the passage of emergency vehicles.

Real-time listings of travel times, work zones, and traffic incidents in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
