LANE CLOSURE SCHEDULED ON DOWNING BRIDGE FOR JAN. 12
Overnight single lane closure may cause minor delays on Route 360 in Tappahannock
FREDERICKSBURG – A single lane closure on the Downing Bridge on Route 360 between Essex and Richmond counties is planned for Thursday, Jan. 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning.
Electronic message boards will be posted Monday, Jan. 9 along Route 360 at the bridge approaches to warn motorists of the lane closure Thursday evening.
Route 360 will remain open to traffic in both directions, but motorists will be directed by a flagging crew to take turns crossing the Downing Bridge in the open lane.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is carrying out a final inspection of a construction and rehabilitation project on the bridge that began in fall 2010. Work is concluding several months ahead of the May 2012 scheduled completion date.
This estimated $4.5 million project rehabilitated the bridge superstructure and substructure, and cleaned and replaced expansion joints.
Motorists can find real-time information about construction work zones, traffic incidents and congestion on VDOT’s 24-hour travel information website, www.511Virginia.org. 511Virginia is also available by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
