LANE CLOSURE ON DOWNING BRIDGE MONDAY NIGHT
Motorists may encounter brief delays on Route 360 in Tappahannock area

FREDERICKSBURGA single lane closure on the Downing Bridge on Route 360 between Essex and Richmond counties is planned for Monday, Feb. 6 from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning.

Route 360 will remain open to traffic in both directions, but motorists will be directed by a flagging crew to take turns crossing the Downing Bridge in the open lane.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is carrying out final tasks associated with a construction and rehabilitation project on the bridge that began in fall 2010. Work is concluding several months ahead of the May 2012 scheduled completion date.

This estimated $4.5 million project rehabilitated the bridge superstructure and substructure, and cleaned and replaced expansion joints.

Motorists can find real-time information about construction work zones, traffic incidents and congestion on VDOT’s 24-hour travel information website, www.511Virginia.org. 511Virginia is also available by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
