ROUTE 622 BRIDGE NOW OPEN IN GLOUCESTER
New 3-ton weight limit on bridge over Fox Creek on Allmondsville Road

FREDERICKSBURG—A two-lane bridge on Allmondsville Road (Route 662) over Fox Creek in Gloucester County has opened to traffic this afternoon after repairs were made to a deteriorated bridge beam.

The bridge is re-opening with a posted 3-ton weight limit. The bridge was previously able to carry vehicles weighing up to 14 tons.

Message boards are being posted to provide advance notice of the new weight limit on the bridge. VDOT recommends motorists use Ark Road (Route 606) and Cappahosic Road (Route 618) as a detour route for vehicles exceeding the weight limit. Motorists can anticipate an additional 5-10 minutes of travel time to reach their destination using the detour.

The bridge, built in 1937, is currently scheduled for replacement in the FY 2012-2017 Six-Year Improvement Program.
