Road closes to through traffic May 31; Detour will be in place through early September

FREDERICKSBURG — Courthouse Road (Route 201) in Northumberland County will close to through traffic on Tuesday, May 31 for a pipe replacement project at Crabbe Mill Stream in the Heathsville area.

A detour will be in place while Courthouse Road is closed to through traffic for several months. Signs have been staged in advance along the detour route, and will be unveiled when the road closes to guide motorists. Courthouse Road is anticipated to re-open to through traffic in early September.

For eastbound motorists, the detour route will be Dodlyt Road (Route 601) to Bush Mill Road (Route 601) to Hazard Road (Route 604) to Courthouse Road.

For westbound motorists, the detour will be Route 360 to Courthouse Road.

Two sets of drainage pipes beneath Courthouse Road are being replaced. The new pipes will improve roadway drainage on Courthouse Road in the vicinity of Crabbe Mill Stream.
