Motorists should expect brief delays. Normal work hours to resume on Monday

FREDERICKSBURG – Beginning Tuesday, July 26 through Friday, July 29, lane closures on the Norris Bridge will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.

The extended hours will provide additional time each day for the contractor to temporarily relocate the aerial navigation lights on the bridge.  Crews can then safely remove the old paint and repaint the structural steel on that section of the structure. Normal work hours, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., will resume on Monday, August 1.

VDOT will monitor the traffic on the bridge during the morning and evening rush hour to ensure that delays remain at a minimum.  In the event of major delays, the lane will be reopened to traffic.

The painting project is expected to be complete by November 2012.

The Norris bridge is located on Route 3 at White Stone and connects Lancaster and Middlesex.
