MOTORISTS URGED TO USE CAUTION TONIGHT
(Roads are likely to refreeze overnight)

FREDERICSKSBURG (5:30 p.m.) – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) advises motorists to use extreme caution when traveling tonight and during the Monday morning rush hour.  As temperatures fall tonight any melting that occurred today is likely to refreeze and create hazardous driving conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses, turn lanes and ramps.

Crews will continue to work around the clock for the next several days to clear low volume secondary routes and subdivision streets with heavy equipment.  Motorgraders will be used in some areas to break through the packed snow and ice that has made driving difficult

Before leaving home be sure to call 511 or  visit www.511virginia.org for real time road conditions.

The following counties are included in the Fredericksburg District: Fredericksburg Area (Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George); Caroline County Area (Caroline, Essex, King William);Northern Neck (Westmoreland, Richmond, Northumberland, Lancaster); and Middle Peninsula (King and Queen, Mathews, Gloucester, Middlesex)

                                                                                      (END)
