NEW TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT GLOUCESTER POINT TO BE ACTIVATED
(Traffic to be shifted to the new Greate Road alignment)

FREDERICKSBURG – On Friday, Dec. 18 the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will activate the new traffic signal located on Route 17 at the intersection of the new Greate Road and Camp Okee near the Coleman Bridge. The signal will initially operate in a flashing mode.

On Monday, Dec.21 the signal will become fully operational and traffic will be shifted to the new Greate Road alignment and the existing Greate Road connection to Route 17 will be permanently closed.  Route 17 traffic will use the designated left turn lanes to access the new Greate Road at the signal.

This work is in connection with Phase I of the Route 17 Improvement Project at Gloucester Point.  Phase I is expected to be complete in the spring of 2010.
