Hot Spots for the Fredericksburg Region
October 25 – October 31, 2009

Stafford County
Interstate 95
Sunday – Thursday, 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.; crews will be installing continuous traffic counters on I-95 south just south of  just south of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville).  Two lanes will be closed in the work zone.  

Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; motorists should be alert to crews working on the shoulder of I-95 south just south of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville).  Crews will be installing continuous traffic counters.  No travel lanes will be closed.

Route 1
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; crews will be repairing the shoulder on southbound Rt. 1 from the Prince William C.L to the Fredericksburg C.L.  This is a mobile operation and motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Route 3
Wednesday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; motorists should be alert to crews inspecting the Rappahannock River bridge located between Exit 133 (Rt. 17/Falmouth) and Exit 130 (Rt. 3/Fredericksburg).  Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95
Monday, 7:30 pm – 4 a.m.; crews will be installing rumble strips on the shoulder of I-95 south between Exit 130 (Rt. 3/Fredericksburg) and Exit 118 (Rt. 606/Thornburg).  This is a mobile operation and motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.; one lane will be closed to traffic on I-95 south just south of Exit 126 (Rt. 1/ Spotsylvania) for construction of the new Rt. 17 bridge over I-95.  There will be no lane closures between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. each day.

Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; motorists should be alert to crews inspecting the I-95 bridge at Rt. 208 located between Exit 130 (Rt. 3/Fredericksburg) and Exit 126 (Rt. 1/Massaponax).  Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; motorists should be alert to crews inspecting the I-95 bridge at Rt. 608 located between Exit 126 (Rt. 1/Massaponax) and Exit 118 (Rt. 606/Thornburg).  Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Wednesday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.; one lane will be closed to traffic on I-95 south just north of Exit 130 (Rt. 3/Fredericksburg).  Crews will be installing weather stations at the I-95 bridge over the Rappahannock River just south of the Welcome Center.

Area Interchange  Ramps
Monday - Tuesday, 5 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Crews will be placing stone along the shoulder on the I-95 ramps located at Exit 130 (Rte. 3/Fredericksburg and at Exit 126 (Rte.1/Spotsylvania).  There will be short duration ramp closures.

Route 208
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; crews will be performing working along the shoulder of the Spotsylvania CH Bypass.  No travel lanes will be closed.

Route 627
On Tuesday the newly installed traffic signal at the intersection of Rt. 627  and Rte 674 will be fully operational.  The signal is currently in its flashing mode.  - Motorists should be alert to the new traffic pattern at the intersection.

Route 639 (Bragg Road/Fall Hill Avenue) -Ongoing Construction Project
Motorists are reminded that all traffic has been shifted to the new lanes on Bragg Road between Route 3 and the entrance to Central Park.  The Bragg Road entrance to Giant remains only open to right turns in and out.  This is an active work zone and motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in this area.

Spotsylvania Towne Centre Entrance
Motorists are reminded to be alert to changes in the traffic pattern on Route 3 eastbound between Bragg Road and the entrance to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre.  The continuous right turn lane on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre entrance may be periodically closed to through traffic as well as the right merge lane exiting the towne centre to Rt. 3 east.  To avoid delays Towne Centre patrons should use the entrance located on Bragg Road Extended.  Access to businesses located on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre will be maintained at all times.

Route 3 (William Street)
Motorists are reminded that one lane on both Rt. 3 east and westbound is closed to traffic at the Rt. 1 bridge over Rt. 3.  This is in connection with the Rt. 1/Rt.3 Bridge Renovation Project.

Motorists are reminded that one lane on both north and southbound Rt. 1 at the bridge over Rt. 3 is closed to traffic for bridge rehabilitation.  The speed limit in the work zone is 25 miles per hour.
